The Naveen Patnaik-led Odisha government on Friday appointed IAS officer Suresh Mohapatra as Chief Secretary and Chief development Commissioner. Suresh Mohapatra’s appointment followed the recent reshuffle of IPS officers in the state. Suresh is currently serving as Development Commissioner of Odisha.
Suresh Mohapatra will replace incumbent chief secretary Ashit Tripathy. Ashit Tripathy will take charge as chairman of the Western Odisha Development Council (WODC). Tripathy has been superannuated, will be principal Advisor to the chief minister on Tourism, agri-business, regional development and industry.

Suresh Mohapatra is a 1986-batch IAS officer. It is learnt that Mohapatra is the second senior-most IAS officer of Odisha cadre after Upendra Prasad Singh, sources said.
IAS officer Pradeep Jena has been made new Development Commissioner cum Additional chief secretary of the state.
