Delhi: Mr. Pankaj Kumar Gupta has taken over as the Head of Project at NTPC Kanti, marking a significant leadership transition at one of Bihar’s key power generation facilities. Currently serving as Chief General Manager at NTPC Limited, Gupta brings with him over 34 years of extensive experience in the power sector.
His appointment is expected to further strengthen operational excellence, sustainability initiatives, and community engagement at NTPC Kanti, which plays a crucial role in meeting the electricity demand of Bihar and the eastern region.
Long Career Journey at NTPC Since 1991
Gupta joined NTPC in 1991 as an Executive Trainee and has since held several key leadership positions across the organisation. Over the years, he has contributed significantly to:
- Project engineering
- Mechanical systems
- Energy transition initiatives
- Environmental management
- Strategic planning
He has worked at multiple major NTPC locations including Kahalgaon, Corporate Centre, Energy Transition & Policy Group, and most recently NTPC Meja.

Strong Academic Background from IIT Delhi and Lucknow University
Mr. Gupta holds:
- B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Lucknow
- M.Tech in Applied Mechanics from Indian Institute of Technology Delhi
He has also completed several national and international training programmes focused on leadership development, clean energy technologies, sustainability, project management, and emerging energy solutions.

Upon taking charge, Gupta expressed commitment to strengthening operational excellence at NTPC Kanti. He highlighted the importance of maintaining high safety standards, improving performance, and expanding community engagement.
He said the station will further strengthen CSR initiatives such as the Girl Empowerment Mission (GEM) and continue building stronger ties with local communities.
“With the collective efforts of Team Kanti, we aim to set new benchmarks in performance, sustainability and social responsibility,” he said.
