New Delhi: NTPC Limited Kanti has launched the “Girl Empowerment Mission (GEM) 2026” under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, aiming to strengthen education, confidence, and life skills among rural girl students.
The programme was inaugurated by Mr. Sanjib Kumar Suar, Head of Project, NTPC Kanti, under the theme “Empowered Girls, Empowered Kanti.”
50 Girls from 9 Schools Selected for Residential Programme
The month-long residential initiative, scheduled from May 26 to June 20, 2026, has brought together 50 girl students from various villages of Kanti Block.
The participants represent nine different schools and have been selected to undergo structured learning and personality development training.
Academic Learning with Holistic Development Focus
During the four-week programme, students will receive free academic coaching in:
- Mathematics
- English
- Hindi
- Science
In addition to classroom learning, the programme also includes:
- Yoga and physical fitness
- Music, dance, and painting
- Sports activities
- Cultural development sessions
- Computer training for digital literacy
All facilities including accommodation, meals, and study materials are being provided free of cost.
NTPC Highlights Commitment to Community Development
Addressing the inaugural event, Mr. Sanjib Kumar Suar said NTPC Kanti remains committed to the upliftment of surrounding communities.
He stated that the initiative not only focuses on academic learning but also aims to build confidence and life skills among young girls.
He further assured complete support for the safety, education, and well-being of all participants during the programme.
Focus on Long-Term Social Transformation
Additional General Manager (HR) Maheshkumar Suthar said the programme will have a lasting impact beyond the participants.
He noted that:
- The initiative will transform lives of students and families
- Girls will return with improved confidence and awareness
- The programme promotes long-term social empowerment
Officials emphasized that empowering girls at the grassroots level contributes to broader community development.
