IAS Officer Trainees Visit HUDCO to Gain Exposure to India’s Urban Development and Affordable Housing Sector

New Delhi: The 2024 batch of IAS Assistant Secretaries (Officer Trainees) visited the Housing and Urban Development Corporation Limited (HUDCO) as part of their ongoing training program under the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA).

The visit aimed to provide the trainees with practical exposure to India’s urban development framework, housing finance systems, and infrastructure planning ecosystem.

Interaction with HUDCO Leadership on Urban Development

During the visit, HUDCO Chairman and Managing Director Sanjay Kulshrestha shared detailed insights into the organisation’s journey, key milestones, and its role in shaping India’s urban infrastructure landscape.

He highlighted HUDCO’s contribution in:

  • Financing sustainable urban infrastructure projects
  • Supporting affordable housing initiatives
  • Strengthening urban development across India
  • Promoting inclusive and planned city growth

Officer Trainees Engage with Senior Officials

The IAS officer trainees also interacted with Directors and senior officials of HUDCO during the session.

The discussions focused on:

  • Policy implementation in housing and infrastructure
  • Role of public sector institutions in nation-building
  • Sustainable and inclusive urban planning strategies

Officials said the interaction helped bridge academic training with real-world governance experience.

The visit was part of a structured training program designed to equip future civil servants with a deeper understanding of India’s urban transformation.
