Hindustan Copper Limited Appoints Shyam Sundar Sethi as Executive Director (Operations) Effective June 1, 2026

Delhi: State-owned mining company Hindustan Copper Limited (HCL) has announced the appointment of Shyam Sundar Sethi as Executive Director (Operations) – Production, Safety and Law, effective June 1, 2026.

The company informed stock exchanges about the development through a regulatory filing in compliance with SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015.

Appointment After Transfer to Corporate Office

According to the official communication, Shyam Sundar Sethi was transferred from the Indian Copper Complex (ICC) to the Corporate Office and assumed charge at the Kolkata headquarters on June 1, 2026.

Following this transition, he has been formally assigned the responsibility of overseeing key operational functions within the company.

Key Responsibilities: Production, Safety and Legal Affairs

In his new role, Sethi will be responsible for three critical areas of operations:

  • Production management
  • Safety oversight
  • Legal affairs

These functions are vital to Hindustan Copper’s mining operations and overall operational efficiency across its units.

Defined Reporting Structure for Operational Efficiency

The company has also clarified a structured reporting system for his responsibilities:

  • For Production and Safety, he will report to the Director (Mining)
  • For Legal matters, he will report to the Director (Finance)

This dual-reporting framework is aimed at improving governance, coordination, and compliance within the organisation.

Corporate Governance and Compliance Disclosure

HCL stated that Shyam Sundar Sethi is not related to any Director, Key Managerial Personnel (KMP), or their relatives.

The appointment was officially notified via Office Order No. Estt/2/3370 dated June 2, 2026, and signed by the Company Secretary and Compliance Officer.

The disclosure was made to ensure transparency and compliance with stock exchange requirements.

Strategic Move for Operational Strengthening

The appointment is seen as part of Hindustan Copper’s efforts to strengthen operational leadership and improve efficiency in its mining and production activities.

The company continues to focus on enhancing safety standards, production output, and regulatory compliance across its operations.
