Bhopal/Panna: On the night of October 22, 2025, a police team from the Brijpur Police Station in Panna district, Madhya Pradesh, was dispatched to arrest Pancham Yadav, a suspect in a culpable homicide case. The team, led by Station House Officer (SHO) Mahendra Singh Bhadoria, approached the Gajna Dharampur village around 8:30 PM.
Upon their arrival, they were met with resistance from a large group of villagers, including Yadav and his supporters. The situation escalated quickly as the mob, reportedly numbering between 100 to 150 individuals, surrounded the police team. Armed with stones, sticks, and axes, they launched a violent attack on the officers.
Attack and Aftermath
During the assault, SHO Bhadoria sustained a severe head injury, and Constable Ram Niranjan Kushwaha was also injured. Both officers were promptly hospitalized in Satna for treatment. In the chaos, the attackers managed to seize two rifles from the police team. Additionally, SHO Bhadoria and Constable Kushwaha were briefly held hostage, while the remaining officers fled the scene to safety.
Superintendent of Police Nivedita Naidu confirmed that the stolen rifles and ammunition were recovered later that night. She stated,
“The Dharampur police station in-charge along with 10 accompanying staff had left to arrest Pancham Yadav… The rifles were recovered by the police again late at night, along with rounds.”
