Negligence by four centre officers resulted in suspensions, SDM appointed to take responsibility
Indian Masterminds Stories

Irregular costs of paddy (rice crops) and complaints about the same in Mandi Committee made DM Pulkit Khare to step in the matter with utter urgency. Reaching at the scene, he flared up at the committee officers one by one for the same. Four of the centre officers were suspended and an additional SDM was brought in to take responsibility of the matter ahead. DM publically reprimanded Deputy RMO along with other officers of the committee for which farmers applauded him and appreciated his way to work.

Mandi situated at Pilbhit costs of paddy at rupees 1100 made farmers furious in the morning. Following this, few farmers even tried to jam the highway along the route of Bareily and Tanakpur by closing down the gates there. As the hype reached the police and they were with difficulties able to make farmers understand and came to reason with them.

Soon, this event was reported to the DM and from the scheduled meetings, he felt necessity to give immediate attention to the problem. DM observed that paddy is being purchased at lower prices in other places in comparison to the government centres. As soon as this information was shared by the farmers in the Mandi, DM took an initiative to summon all other officers of the committee, which included Deputy RMO Avinash Jha, all in presence of the famers.

Soon after this, officers were reprimanded and were given a fair warning regarding the costs and procurement of paddy. He also mentioned, that if at all there are any discrepancies anywhere and from or by anyone, or if there are any more complaints from the farmers, the official person involved will have to face consequences as per the books. DM’s strict and disciplined aura made the market hushed. Nevertheless, his working style was supported by the farmers.

On this note, he remarked to farmers to take full benefits from now onwards. DM Pulkit Khare instructed about the same and added, if there are any differences in regards to procurement of paddy and paddy should be sold and purchased on the fixed rate only. If at all, something different to this will or shall be noted, or if someone tries to work out an angle in this, will be taken ahead by law and order of the state.
