Unnao: The Unnao district administration in Uttar Pradesh has approved development works in 70 villages under the Pradhan Mantri Adarsh Gram Yojana, with projects costing up to ₹20 lakh per village to be taken up based on local requirements.
The approvals were given by District Magistrate Ghanshyam Meena during a review meeting held at the Vikas Bhawan auditorium.
Drinking Water, Roads and Sanitation Among Approved Works
The approved works cover basic infrastructure and public facilities in the selected villages.

Key works include:
- Improvements in drinking water facilities
- Solid and liquid waste management
- Toilets at schools and Anganwadi centres
- Construction of Anganwadi buildings where required
- Solar and street lights
- Overhead water tanks and borewells
- Drains, soak pits and pipeline extensions
Small RCC culverts, transformers and works related to ground-level reservoirs are also among the proposed projects.
70 Villages Selected From 192 Identified Earlier
According to officials, 192 villages in Unnao were selected for the Pradhan Mantri Adarsh Gram Yojana in 2021-22.
Of these, development works for 70 villages have now received district-level approval. Officials have been directed to prioritise projects according to the requirements of individual villages.
The district administration also said that eligible residents should receive the benefits of government welfare schemes.
Survey Ordered for Remaining Villages
District Magistrate Ghanshyam Meena directed District Social Welfare Officer Prakash Pandey to conduct a survey of the remaining villages covered under the scheme.
Following the survey, officials have been asked to prepare estimated costs for the required development works so that the next steps can be taken.
DM Directs Officials to Maintain Quality and Timelines
The District Magistrate directed officials to ensure that approved works are completed within the prescribed timelines and that construction quality is maintained.
He also instructed officials to regularly monitor the projects. The administration said action would be taken against officials responsible for negligence or deficiencies in the quality of development works.
Officials from the Social Welfare, Agriculture, MGNREGA and Public Works departments, among others, attended the review meeting.
