Patna: The domestic dispute involving Bihar-cadre IPS officer Bhanu Pratap Singh and his wife, Pooja Kumari, has taken another turn, with Pooja appealing to Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary for intervention. She has alleged that she is being prevented from meeting their daughter and has accused senior police officials of failing to address her grievances.
Pooja, who recently visited the Bihar Police Headquarters in Patna, sought the intervention of Director General of Police (DGP) and the Chief Minister, saying that her repeated appeals to the authorities had not resulted in a solution.
Bhanu Pratap Singh is an IPS officer of the 2021 batch of the Bihar cadre.
Pooja Alleges She Is Being Denied Access to Her Daughter
Speaking to the media at Police Headquarters, Pooja Kumari alleged that she had been unable to meet her daughter despite repeatedly requesting assistance from the authorities.
She claimed that senior police officials were not helping her and alleged that the police administration was siding with her husband.
“The entire administration is colluding with him,” she alleged.
Pooja specifically named ADG K.S. Anupam and claimed that officials at the ADG, DGP and IG levels were acting on the directions of Bhanu Pratap Singh. These are allegations made by Pooja, and the response of the officers concerned was not available in the information provided.
She further alleged that instead of helping her meet her daughter, she was being asked to live separately in a rented house. Emphasising that she is Bhanu Pratap Singh’s legally married wife, she questioned how she could be prevented from meeting her own child.
Appeals to Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary
After approaching the Police Headquarters, Pooja appealed directly to Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary, seeking his intervention to help her meet her daughter.
She said she now looked to the Chief Minister for justice and warned that she would stage a sit-in outside his residence if she continued to be denied access to her child. She also threatened to begin an indefinite hunger strike.
Speaking to reporters, Pooja claimed that she had not eaten or consumed anything since the morning. She said she would continue pursuing her demand until a way was found for her to meet her daughter.
Matter Also Taken Up by Bihar State Commission for Women
The dispute has previously reached the Bihar State Commission for Women. Pooja had approached the Commission with her complaint, following which it sought a report from the concerned authorities on the matter, including the issues raised regarding her safety.
It has also been reported that Bhanu Pratap Singh was summoned by the Commission to present his side of the matter.
Pooja has approached Police Headquarters on earlier occasions as well, expressing her desire to live with her husband and daughter.
IPS Officer’s Response Awaited
For now, Pooja’s primary demand is that the authorities facilitate a meeting with her daughter. She has alleged that repeated appeals to senior police officials have failed to resolve the issue and has sought the Chief Minister’s direct intervention.
The response of IPS officer Bhanu Pratap Singh and the police officials named in her allegations was not available in the material provided. The allegations, therefore, remain Pooja’s claims and should be viewed in that context.
