New Delhi: Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID) has approved a proposal to raise up to ₹5,000 crore through the private placement of debt securities.
The decision was taken by the company’s Committee of Directors for Bonds at its meeting held on September 18, 2026.
POWERGRID Plans 84th Bond Issue
The proposed fundraising will be undertaken through the issuance of Unsecured, Non-Convertible, Non-Cumulative, Redeemable, Taxable POWERGRID Bonds – LXXXIV (84th) Issue 2026-27.
The issue will comprise:
- Base issue size: ₹1,000 crore
- Green shoe option: ₹4,000 crore
- Maximum issue size: ₹5,000 crore
- Tenure: 10 years from the deemed date of allotment
The bonds are proposed to be listed on both the National Stock Exchange of India (NSE) and BSE.

Coupon Rate to Be Decided Through Bidding
POWERGRID said the bonds will have a structured repayment schedule, with annual redemption of principal beginning after completion of the fourth year.
However, the final coupon rate, interest rate and detailed schedule for coupon and principal payments will be determined through the bidding process on the Electronic Book Provider (EBP) platform.
The securities will be issued on a private placement basis.
POWERGRID Discloses No Payment Default
According to the company’s disclosure, the proposed bonds will not carry any special rights, interests or privileges for investors.
POWERGRID also stated that there has been no default or delay exceeding three months in the payment of interest or principal on its securities.
The company further disclosed that there are no adverse comments regarding asset security or payment obligations associated with the proposed bond issue.
Bond Issue Disclosure Filed With NSE and BSE
POWERGRID formally disclosed the fundraising proposal to the NSE and BSE under Regulation 30 of the SEBI Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements (LODR) Regulations, 2015.The disclosure was signed by Anjana Luthra, Company Secretary and Compliance Officer, POWERGRID.
