POWERGRID Commissions 400 kV Maharani Bagh–Narela Multi-Circuit Transmission Line to Boost Delhi NCR Power Reliability

New Delhi: POWERGRID has successfully commissioned the 400 kV Maharani Bagh–Narela Multi-Circuit Transmission Line, a key infrastructure upgrade aimed at strengthening power reliability and ensuring uninterrupted electricity supply across the Delhi NCR region. The energisation of this high-capacity transmission line marks a significant milestone in modernising the region’s electricity network to meet growing demand.

High-Level Inauguration of Transmission Line

The transmission line was commissioned in the presence of several dignitaries, including Rajeev Verma, Chief Secretary, Government of NCT of Delhi; Dr R. K. Tyagi, CMD, POWERGRID; G. Ravisankar, Director (Finance); Naveen Srivastava, Director (Operations); Vamsi Rama Mohan Burra, Director (Projects); and Alok Kumar Sharma, ED, NR-I, along with other senior officials. The event underscored the strategic importance of the project in supporting the growing energy requirements of the national capital region.

Enhancing Grid Stability and Reliability

The newly commissioned 400 kV line is designed to reduce load on existing transmission corridors, improve system stability, and ensure reliable electricity supply during peak demand periods. By providing additional transmission capacity, the line will help mitigate power congestion, reduce technical losses, and strengthen the resilience of Delhi NCR’s electricity infrastructure.

This milestone reflects POWERGRID’s ongoing commitment to modernising and expanding India’s transmission network.
