Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh: Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID), a Maharatna PSU under the Ministry of Power, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Madan Mohan Malaviya University of Technology (MMMUT), Gorakhpur. The agreement provides for the construction of a 144-bedded girls’ hostel under the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative.
Empowering Education Through Infrastructure
The MoU signing ceremony was attended by Anandiben Patel, Hon’ble Governor of Uttar Pradesh, Dr. V. Narayanan, Chairman of ISRO, Prof. Jai Prakash Saini, Vice-Chancellor of MMMUT, and Yugesh Kumar Dixit, Executive Director (NR-III), POWERGRID.
By funding this critical infrastructure, POWERGRID aims to create a safe and supportive residential facility for women students pursuing higher education in the state. The initiative reflects the PSU’s commitment to empowering young women by providing them access to better academic opportunities.
Promoting Gender Inclusivity in Higher Learning
The hostel will not only increase accommodation capacity at MMMUT but also encourage more female participation in technical education. This aligns with the Government of India’s broader focus on promoting inclusivity, access, and equality in the education sector.
Through such CSR-driven initiatives, POWERGRID continues to play an active role in strengthening educational infrastructure while contributing to holistic community development.
