PSB Confluence to Bring Public Sector Bank Chiefs Together for Action-Oriented Banking Reforms

The two-day PSB Confluence, scheduled for August 17–18 in New Delhi, will bring together leaders of public sector banks and financial institutions to discuss banking priorities, share best practices and develop time-bound initiatives.

New Delhi: The Department of Financial Services (DFS), Ministry of Finance, will host the PSB Confluence in New Delhi on August 17–18, bringing together senior leadership of Public Sector Banks (PSBs) and Public Financial Institutions (PFIs) for discussions focused on practical and people-centric outcomes.

Finance Ministry to Host Two-Day PSB Confluence

Union Finance and Corporate Affairs Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary will address the two-day conclave.

The event is designed as an ideation platform where participating institutions will brainstorm on identified themes, exchange proven practices and discuss initiatives that could be adopted across the banking ecosystem.

Seven Key Themes on the Agenda

The deliberations will be organised around seven thematic tracks:

  • Deposit mobilisation
  • Banking for youth
  • Supporting the investment cycle
  • Supporting Global Capability Centres (GCCs)
  • Agriculture and horticulture value-chain infrastructure
  • Reimagining the credit card business
  • Priority sector lending

Each track will be coordinated by a designated group of participating institutions.

Focus on Credit, Investment and Rural Infrastructure

The themes have been selected for their relevance to citizen welfare and inclusive economic development.

Discussions will cover:

  • Strengthening the resource base for affordable credit.
  • Supporting the investment cycle and timely execution of infrastructure projects.
  • Developing ecosystems for Global Capability Centres.
  • Strengthening rural value-chain infrastructure, particularly for post-harvest management and market linkages.
  • Expanding formal credit access to underserved sections through priority sector lending.
  • Developing banking products suited to the needs of young customers.

Around 125 Senior Participants Expected

The conclave is expected to bring together around 125 participants, including Chairmen, Managing Directors and Executive Directors of PSBs and senior representatives of PFIs.

Participating financial institutions include:

  • NABARD
  • EXIM Bank
  • SIDBI
  • National Housing Bank (NHB)
  • India Infrastructure Finance Company Limited (IIFCL)
  • IFCI
  • NaBFID

Senior officials from the Indian Banks’ Association (IBA) and the Department of Financial Services will also participate.

Focus on Action-Oriented Outcomes

The PSB Confluence is intended to move beyond discussions by identifying practical, time-bound initiatives that participating institutions can implement across the banking ecosystem.

The government said the selected themes are aimed at translating institutional and policy interventions into measurable, people-centric outcomes.
