Bengaluru: In a meaningful initiative to expand the frontiers of science education in India, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) has signed a Memorandum of Agreement with the Centre for Nano and Soft Matter Sciences (CeNS) for the establishment of the HAL Advanced Academic Initiation Centre at CeNS’ Arkavathi Campus in Karnataka.
The centre, launched under HAL’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) framework, will act as a vital platform for popularising science among school students, especially those from rural and underserved regions.
Empowering Future Innovators Through V4 Programme
The new centre will become an extension of CeNS’ successful outreach initiative, the Vigyaani Vidyarthi Vichar Vinimay (V4) programme, which has already impacted over 20,000 students across 200 educational institutions. The programme focuses on simplifying complex scientific principles and introducing students to the latest advancements in science and technology.
Leadership Speaks: Encouraging Curiosity in Young Minds
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Dr. D. K. Sunil, CMD, HAL, said:
“The HAL Advanced Academic Initiation Centre will enable CeNS to reach out to a greater number of students and foster curiosity among young minds, especially those from rural areas who have limited exposure to advanced scientific concepts.”
The agreement was formally signed by Mr. Pradeep Kumar, General Manager (HR), HAL and Prof. B. L. V. Prasad, Director, CeNS, in the presence of Mr. M. G. Balasubrahmanya, Director (HR), HAL, and other senior officials from both organisations.
Scientific Literacy for All: A Shared Vision
Prof. Prasad expressed appreciation for HAL’s commitment to scientific outreach and added:
“This new centre will allow CeNS to accommodate more students and schools, particularly from rural regions, making it easier to demonstrate scientific concepts to large groups of students. It’s an investment in nurturing future scientists and innovators.”
With this collaboration, CeNS plans to expand the scope and accessibility of its outreach activities, addressing a critical gap in STEM education for rural students.
