New Delhi: The Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) has recommended Mr. Anand, Executive Director (Mining/Production) at Coal India Limited (CIL), for appointment as Director (Technical) at Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL). The recommendation was made after the selection meeting held on 23 June 2026 in New Delhi.
The meeting, conducted as PESB Meeting No. 54/2026 at 02:30 PM, evaluated multiple senior candidates from leading coal sector public sector undertakings before finalizing its decision.
Selection Process Conducted by PESB
During the selection process, the PESB panel interviewed senior executives from several major coal and mining public sector undertakings. Candidates were assessed based on technical expertise, leadership experience, and performance in mining operations.

About Mr. Anand – Recommended Candidate
Mr. Anand is a senior mining professional currently serving as Executive Director (Mining/Production) at Coal India Limited, one of the world’s largest coal-producing companies under the Government of India.
He has extensive experience in coal production, mine planning, and large-scale mining operations across both underground and opencast projects.
His key areas of expertise include:
- Coal production planning and operational management
- Large-scale mine execution and resource optimization
- Safety improvement and productivity enhancement initiatives
- Coordination of multi-site mining operations
- Strategic execution of production targets across coalfields
In his current role at Coal India Limited, he oversees mining production performance, operational efficiency, and modernization initiatives across multiple mining units.

Significance of the PESB Recommendation
The Director (Technical) position at Bharat Coking Coal Limited is a key board-level role responsible for overseeing mining operations, technical planning, production strategy, and safety management across the company’s mines.
The PESB recommendation of Mr. Anand reflects strong confidence in his extensive experience in coal mining operations and his leadership track record at Coal India Limited.
Once appointed, he will replace Mr. Sanjay Kumar Singh, who has been serving in the role since October 10, 2023. As Director (Technical), Mr. Anand will also become a member of the BCCL Board and will report directly to the Chairman and Managing Director, overseeing mine operations, technical functions, field activities, and safety systems.
