New Delhi: South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL), a subsidiary of Coal India Limited, has been honoured with the ‘Green Transition Leadership Award’ at the Times Internet Ecopreneurs Awards 2026 for its outstanding initiatives in sustainable mining and environmental conservation.

The recognition comes at a time when SECL has achieved another major operational milestone by becoming the first Coal India subsidiary to cross 50 million tonnes (MT) of coal production in the current financial year FY 2026-27.

SECL Becomes First Coal India Subsidiary to Cross 50 MT Production
In a significant operational achievement, SECL crossed the 50 MT coal production mark in FY 2026-27, becoming the first subsidiary of Coal India Limited to achieve this milestone during the current financial year.
The company recorded a 9.5% year-on-year growth in coal production compared to the corresponding period of the previous financial year.
The achievement reflects SECL’s strong operational performance, improved efficiency, and contribution towards meeting India’s growing energy requirements.
Major Mining Projects Drive SECL’s Production Growth
SECL’s key mining projects played an important role in achieving the 50 MT production milestone.
Production contribution from major projects included:
- Dipka Project: 11.8 MT
- Gevra Project: 11.7 MT
- Kusmunda Project: 9.7 MT
- CIC Coalfields: 8.8 MT
- Raigarh Area: 5.9 MT
- Korba Area: 2.1 MT
The combined performance of these mining areas supported SECL’s production growth and strengthened its position as one of India’s leading coal producers.
