New Delhi/Bilaspur: South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) has inaugurated a Model Anganwadi Centre at Lingiadih in Bilaspur as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative aimed at strengthening early childhood education and improving grassroots social infrastructure in mining-affected regions.
The project is part of a larger CSR programme under which 200 Anganwadi Centres across Bilaspur district are being modernised with a total financial outlay of ₹4.72 crore.
Focus on Strengthening Early Childhood Learning
The upgraded Anganwadi Centre has been designed to create a more engaging, safe, and child-friendly learning environment for young children. The facility aims to improve foundational education outcomes through better infrastructure and learning support systems.
SECL stated that the initiative aligns with its broader commitment to community development and social upliftment in operational areas.
Inauguration by SECL HR Director
The Model Anganwadi Centre was inaugurated by Biranchi Das, Director (Human Resources), SECL.
Speaking at the event, he highlighted the importance of quality early childhood education in shaping holistic child development. He said that improved infrastructure and modern learning tools would significantly benefit children in the region and strengthen foundational education.
Modern Facilities at the Anganwadi Centre
The upgraded centre includes several child-friendly and improved facilities such as:
- Dedicated child-friendly learning spaces
- Improved sanitation facilities
- Educational aids and learning materials
- Modern furniture for early childhood development
On the occasion, children enrolled at the centre were also provided learning materials including books, pencils, drawing pads, and sketchbooks.
Large-Scale CSR Initiative Across Bilaspur
SECL’s Anganwadi modernization project is part of a broader CSR effort focused on:
- Early childhood education and learning development
- Healthcare support programmes
- Social welfare and infrastructure development
The company is working to improve community facilities across mining-affected regions of Bilaspur district through sustained development initiatives.
Additional Welfare Projects in the Region
SECL has also extended its CSR support to other major welfare initiatives, including the foundation of a state-of-the-art Old Age Home and Divyangjan Rehabilitation Centre at Sakri in Bilaspur. These initiatives reflect the company’s continued focus on inclusive social development.
