CM Mohan Yadav Announces Modern Medical College in Tikamgarh, Unveils ₹189 Crore Development Projects

Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has announced that a fully equipped medical college will be established in Tikamgarh district, marking a major step towards strengthening healthcare infrastructure in the Bundelkhand region.

Addressing a development programme at Khargapur in Tikamgarh district, the Chief Minister said that the state government is continuously working for the overall development of Bundelkhand by focusing on education, healthcare, agriculture, employment, sports, and infrastructure.

During the event, Dr. Yadav inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for 72 development projects worth more than ₹189 crore for Tikamgarh district.

Tikamgarh to Get Advanced Medical College Facility

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav announced that Tikamgarh will soon have a modern medical college equipped with advanced facilities.

He said the foundation stone for the medical college project will be laid soon, adding that the institution will significantly improve healthcare services for people in Tikamgarh and surrounding areas.

The medical college is expected to provide better medical facilities, create employment opportunities, and strengthen healthcare education in the region.

₹189 Crore Development Projects Gifted to Tikamgarh

During the programme, the Chief Minister dedicated several development projects and performed the foundation stone laying for new works.

The total value of projects announced was ₹189 crore, including:

  • 33 completed projects worth ₹102.45 crore inaugurated.
  • 39 new projects worth ₹86.66 crore for which foundation stones were laid.

These projects cover various sectors, including education, infrastructure, sports, and public facilities.

Ken-Betwa River Linking Project to Transform Bundelkhand Agriculture

Highlighting the challenges faced by Bundelkhand farmers, Dr. Yadav said the region has historically suffered due to water scarcity, poverty, and limited employment opportunities.

He said the Ken-Betwa National River Linking Project will bring a major transformation by improving irrigation facilities and increasing agricultural productivity.

According to the Chief Minister, once the project is completed, Bundelkhand has the potential to become more prosperous and even surpass states like Punjab and Haryana in agricultural development.

The project will provide irrigation benefits to thousands of hectares of agricultural land in Tikamgarh district, helping farmers increase their income.

Madhya Pradesh Irrigated Area Expands to 65 Lakh Hectares

Dr. Yadav highlighted the significant progress made in irrigation development in Madhya Pradesh.

He said that in 2002-03, the state’s irrigated area was only 7.5 lakh hectares, which has now increased to 65 lakh hectares under the current government.

The state government has set a target of expanding irrigation coverage to 1 crore hectares to further strengthen agriculture and improve farmers’ livelihoods.

New Educational and Sports Facilities Inaugurated in Tikamgarh

The Chief Minister also highlighted several educational and sports infrastructure projects launched in the district.

Key developments include:

  • Development of Amrit Bharat Railway Station facilities in Tikamgarh.
  • New Sandipani Vidyalaya buildings in Jatara and Badagaon Dhasan.
  • Construction works in 16 schools.
  • Inauguration of a hockey synthetic astroturf stadium.
  • Opening of a basketball court.
  • Foundation stone laid for a new Sandipani Vidyalaya building in Khargapur, to be built at a cost of ₹40 crore.

Dr. Yadav said Sandipani Vidyalayas are designed to provide quality education along with values and character development for the younger generation.

Government Focuses on Farmers, Women and Rural Development

The Chief Minister said the Madhya Pradesh government is working towards economic empowerment of women through schemes such as the Ladli Behna Yojana.

He also highlighted various initiatives for farmers, livestock owners, dairy producers, and fishermen.

Key initiatives mentioned include:

  • Support under Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Kamdhenu Yojana for increasing milk production.
  • Financial assistance of ₹40 per cow per day for cow shelters.
  • Better prices for milk producers through the National Dairy Development Board.
  • Promotion of fisheries production for economic growth of fishing communities.

Focus on Inclusive Development Across Communities

Dr. Yadav said the state government is working for the welfare of all sections of society and developing religious and cultural sites across Madhya Pradesh.

He emphasized that government schemes are being implemented equally for people from all communities, ensuring inclusive growth and development.

Public Representatives Attend Development Programme

The programme was attended by several senior leaders and officials, including:

  • Mr. Harishankar Khatik, former minister and current MLA from Jatara.
  • Krishna Gaur, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Backward Class and Minority Welfare and Tikamgarh district in-charge minister.
  • Mr. Dilip Ahirwar, Minister of State for Forest and Environment.
  • Other public representatives and a large number of local residents.

Bundelkhand Emerging as a New Growth Centre

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said Bundelkhand is undergoing rapid transformation and emerging as a new investment destination.

With improved irrigation through the Ken-Betwa project, better healthcare facilities, quality education infrastructure, and enhanced connectivity, the region is expected to witness significant socio-economic growth in the coming years.
