Punjab Govt Accelerates Education Modernisation Drive with New Smart Classrooms and School Reforms

Chandigarh: The Punjab government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, is aggressively advancing reforms in the education sector with a strong focus on modernisation, infrastructure development, and digital learning. The state continues to roll out new initiatives aimed at improving the quality of education in government schools.

Cabinet Minister Inaugurates New Classroom Facility

As part of the ongoing “Education Revolution” initiative, Punjab Cabinet Minister Lal Chand Kataruchak inaugurated a newly constructed classroom at a government school built at a cost of ₹9.5 lakh.

The minister also visited a government school in Sihora Kalan village, where he interacted with teachers and students and reviewed ongoing development works in the education sector.

Focus on Education Modernisation and Digital Transformation

  • Smart classrooms and digital learning tools
  • Improved infrastructure in government schools
  • Enhanced teacher training and student support systems

The government aims to bridge the gap between rural and urban education standards through these reforms.

Schools of Eminence Transforming Learning Experience

A major highlight of the reform drive is the introduction of the Schools of Eminence initiative. These schools are designed to provide students with world-class education and facilities.

  • Modern classrooms and smart teaching methods
  • Advanced science and computer laboratories
  • Sports infrastructure and training facilities
  • Career guidance and skill development programs

The initiative is aimed at preparing students for global-level opportunities.

Cabinet Minister Lal Chand Kataruchak emphasized that education is the key to breaking the cycle of poverty. He said that when a child from a family succeeds through education, it transforms the entire household’s future.

He added that the government’s goal is to ensure students not only complete their education but also secure meaningful employment opportunities.

Infrastructure Upgrades in Government Schools

The state government has undertaken large-scale improvements in school infrastructure, including:
