Sangrur: The government of Punjab under Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann continues to push infrastructure development in the state, with a renewed focus on improving road connectivity and urban facilities.
In a major local development initiative, Cabinet Minister Aman Arora laid the foundation stone for three new roads in Shahpur Kalan village of Sunam Udham Singh Wala Assembly constituency in Sangrur district.
₹2.58 Crore Road Development Project Launched
The newly launched road projects include:
- Shahpur–Sheron road to Shahi Samadhan (₹59 lakh)
- Shahpur–Jharon road to Kothayan (₹50 lakh)
- Shahpur to Dera Baba Girji Wala road (₹1.49 crore)
The total project cost is ₹2.58 crore, aimed at improving rural connectivity and easing transportation for residents.
Focus on Strengthening Punjab’s Infrastructure
The state government has been actively working to strengthen infrastructure under the vision of a “Rangla Punjab”. Authorities have focused on:
- Road network expansion and repair
- Improved sewerage systems
- Street lighting upgrades
- Waste management systems
- Development of parks, libraries, and community halls
Officials say these initiatives aim to improve quality of life in both urban and rural areas.
Urban Development Projects Across Major Cities
Under the broader infrastructure push, several key projects are underway in major cities of Punjab:
- 42 km “Modern City Streets” project in Ludhiana and Jalandhar
- Repair and construction of multiple urban roads
- Increased municipal corporation budget to ₹1,000 crore
- Development of new Aero City and IT City projects
These projects are designed to modernize urban infrastructure and support economic growth.
Welfare-Focused Development Approach
The government has also introduced housing repair assistance schemes for low-income families in Ludhiana and initiated various community development programs to support underprivileged sections.
Officials said the development model focuses on inclusive growth, ensuring that both rural and urban populations benefit equally.
With continuous investments in road networks and urban infrastructure, the government of Punjab is aiming to accelerate regional development and improve connectivity across districts, particularly in constituencies like Sunam.
