Dehradun: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has approved ₹191 crore in financial and administrative sanctions for infrastructure development, flood protection works, road construction, government housing, and public utility projects across various assembly constituencies in the state.
The approvals are aimed at strengthening basic infrastructure alongside preparations for Kumbh Mela 2027 and improving connectivity, tourism facilities, and public services across Uttarakhand.
Flood Protection and Urban Infrastructure Projects in Dehradun and Haridwar
Under the approved projects, key works include flood protection and infrastructure development:
- ₹3.62 crore sanctioned for channelization of the Song River in Raipur Assembly constituency, Dehradun
- ₹63.62 lakh approved for tubewell construction in Vikasnagar Colony
- ₹21.64 crore sanctioned for construction and improvement of Old Delhi–Neetipass State Highway and internal roads in Haridwar
These projects aim to strengthen urban infrastructure and improve water management systems in affected areas.
Housing, Administrative and Public Facility Developments
Several administrative and housing-related projects were also approved:
- Construction of Type-2 and Type-3 staff housing in Nainital district (Narendranagar court complex)
- ₹5.55 crore for construction of a security building at Rajya Vishesh Grih, Haridwar
- ₹80 lakh for completion of remaining work of the Himalayan Development Building in Sitarganj
These projects are expected to improve government functioning and residential facilities for staff.
Tourism and Parking Infrastructure Boost in Nainital and Bageshwar
To support tourism and local mobility, the government has cleared key projects:
- ₹9.89 crore for car parking construction at Mohan Bazaar, Mukteshwar (Nainital)
- ₹5.41 crore for multilevel parking facility in Kanda area of Bageshwar district
These developments aim to enhance tourism infrastructure and ease traffic congestion in popular destinations.
Energy Sector Strengthened with ₹100+ Crore Support to UPCL
The state government has also focused on strengthening the power sector. Approvals include:
- ₹70 crore released to Uttarakhand Power Corporation Limited (UPCL) under the RDSS scheme
- ₹25 crore as equity support for ongoing power projects
- ₹5 crore for shifting electricity lines over buildings
These investments are expected to improve electricity infrastructure and reliability across the state.
Kumbh Mela 2027 Preparations Gain Momentum
As part of preparations for Kumbh Mela 2027, several development and beautification projects have been approved in Haridwar and Rishikesh:
- ₹1.50 crore for beautification of Premnagar Ashram Ganga Ghat, Haridwar
- ₹4.68 crore for repair and strengthening of road from Virbhadra Barrage (Rishikesh) to Chandi Ghat (Haridwar)
- ₹35.78 crore for beautification of the Astha Path project in Rishikesh
These projects aim to improve pilgrim facilities and enhance the overall experience during the mega religious event.
Religious and Rural Development Projects Approved
The Chief Minister also approved funding for several local religious and rural infrastructure projects:
- ₹27 lakh for construction and beautification of Kalasin Devta Temple Dharamshala in Pithoragarh
- ₹49.86 lakh for reconstruction and development of Naga Devta Temple in Tehri district
These initiatives are expected to preserve cultural heritage and improve rural infrastructure.
Government Focus on Development and Employment
The state government stated that these approvals will:
- Strengthen infrastructure across Uttarakhand
- Accelerate preparations for Kumbh Mela 2027
- Boost tourism and local economy
- Generate employment opportunities at the local level
Officials added that the projects reflect the government’s commitment to balanced regional development and long-term growth.
