Railway Board Extends Additional Charge of Director (Projects) at RITES, Deepak Tripathi to Continue Leadership for 9 Months

New Delhi: In a strategic move to ensure leadership continuity, the Railway Board has approved the extension of the additional charge of Director (Projects) at RITES Limited, a prominent public sector consultancy firm, held by Mr. Deepak Tripathi, who currently serves as Director (Technical). The extension will be effective for nine months from 5th November 2025.

Extension of Additional Charge

The decision was formalized by the Railway Board on 26th November 2025. Mr. Deepak Tripathi will continue in his dual capacity until a regular Director (Projects) is appointed or until further instructions from the Railway Board. This temporary arrangement is intended to maintain operational stability and ensure the smooth continuation of ongoing projects at RITES.

About Mr. Deepak Tripathi

Mr. Deepak Tripathi is a 1990 batch ex-IRSME officer with a Mechanical Engineering background and advanced education including a Doctorate and Post-Graduation from IIM Mumbai, specializing in Operations Management. He has also undergone leadership training at NUS, INSEAD, and IIM-K among other institutes.

With over 30 years of experience in Indian Railways and Konkan Railway Corporation Limited, Tripathi has made notable contributions in:

  • Railway operations and maintenance
  • Quality assurance
  • Rolling stock infrastructure and technology projects
  • International business and exports

He has led initiatives in technology adoption, Industry 4.0, AI, and lean management, and has authored books and research publications in these areas.

During his tenure as Director/Quality Assurance (I&L) at RDSO, Tripathi implemented vendor inspections, quality assurance protocols, and patented innovations including SMART Yard technology. His work has earned him several prestigious awards, including:

  • National Award for Outstanding Services
  • Best Innovative Idea Award from the Minister of Railways
  • Lal Bahadur Shastri Award from the Ministry of Railways
  • Outstanding Author Award from EMERALD Publications, U.K
  • Director General Medals from NAIR and RDSO
  • Presidential Awards from the Hon’ble Home Minister

He also serves as a director on the board of Elicius Energy Private Limited, an associate company of RITES.
