A high-level security alert was issued in Rajasthan after a threatening e-mail targeted Chief Minister Mr. Bhajanlal Sharma and senior IAS officer Mr. Neeraj K Pawan (2003 batch). The email, sent on Thursday from an account bearing the name Divij Prabhakara, contained graphic threats to kill and dismember both officials and also warned of explosives being planted in cricket stadiums to gain public attention.

The threat was received by multiple recipients, including an official email ID associated with the Chief Minister’s Office and a private citizen. The message alleged personal grievances and accused certain individuals of serious crimes such as rape and dowry harassment, attaching detailed personal information of the accused.
Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Mr. Kunwar Rashtradeep stated that cybercrime and intelligence teams have been deployed to trace the origin of the email and determine the credibility of the threats. Authorities have increased security at critical government establishments and cricket venues in Jaipur as a precautionary measure.
The sender claimed that, if apprehended, they would escape legal consequences by invoking mental health issues and claimed to already possess a medical certificate to support such a defence. This angle is currently under investigation, police confirmed.
Officials noted that the allegations made in the email are unverified, and the message is being handled both as a potential threat and as a possible hoax. The email also contained personal data such as Aadhaar-linked hotel check-in records and phone numbers, which authorities are now working to authenticate and trace for any legitimate connection to the sender.
Further developments are awaited pending forensic examination of the email and digital footprint analysis, police added.
