Jalandhar: The Jalandhar district administration is monitoring 260 development works being undertaken under the Rangla Punjab programme, with 248 projects already completed and the remaining works nearing completion, according to the district administration.
The projects cover both rural and urban areas and include basic civic infrastructure and public facilities. Kapurthala Deputy Commissioner, Akash Bansal, a 2019-batch IAS officer of the Punjab cadre, reviewed the status of the works and directed officials to maintain field-level supervision and complete the pending projects within the stipulated timelines.
Roads, Drains and Public Facilities Among Key Works
The development works being undertaken under the programme include:
- Construction and repair of roads and drains
- Installation of interlocking tiles
- Installation of solar street lights
- Establishment of open gyms
- Development and upgrading of cremation grounds
- Construction of community halls
- Construction of Anganwadi centres
- Construction of panchayat ghars
- Other public utility infrastructure

The district administration has also stressed the timely submission of utilisation certificates by the executing agencies and departments.
Focus on Monitoring and Completion
Officials were asked to maintain close coordination between the departments implementing the projects and to immediately flag issues that could affect the pace or quality of execution.
The administration said the projects are being reviewed periodically as part of its monitoring mechanism.
The Rangla Punjab Vikas Scheme has previously been used to fund development works across Jalandhar’s assembly constituencies, including civic infrastructure and public amenities. In August 2025, the state government had approved development works worth ₹43.79 crore under the scheme for the district.
At the national level, MPLADS works are also subject to district-level monitoring and review for timely execution and completion, according to government records.
