Chandigarh: Punjab is stepping up efforts to attract investment from the UAE, with Industries and Commerce Minister Aman Arora inviting UAE-based investors to explore opportunities across the state.

Arora met UAE International Investment Council (UAEIIC) Secretary General H.E. Abdulla Ahmed Al Suwaidi on the sidelines of the Annual Investment Meeting (AIM) in Dubai on September 7. The meeting focused on expanding economic cooperation and creating investment opportunities between Punjab and the UAE.

The minister presented Punjab as an investment-friendly destination and assured businesses looking to establish or expand operations in the state of administrative support, handholding and logistical facilitation.

Punjab Highlights Opportunities for UAE Investors

During the meeting, Arora outlined Punjab’s economic potential and invited UAE investors to participate in high-growth sectors through government, semi-government and private-sector partnerships.

The state is seeking to build long-term relationships with UAE-based investors and institutional funds as part of its broader strategy to attract global capital and accelerate industrial development.

Arora highlighted Punjab’s existing business ecosystem, including its connectivity, skilled technical workforce and governance framework. The government is also positioning the state as a destination where investors can receive support while setting up and expanding businesses.

Invest Punjab Offers Single-Window Support

A key part of Punjab’s pitch is Invest Punjab, the state’s unified single-window investment platform.

The platform is intended to simplify the process of setting up businesses by bringing statutory approvals and clearances into a streamlined system. The government says the platform helps investors navigate regulatory processes and obtain necessary approvals more efficiently.

For UAE companies considering investment in Punjab, such mechanisms could reduce the complexity involved in establishing operations and make the investment process more predictable.

Arora also highlighted the state’s multimodal connectivity, technical manpower and investor-focused reforms as factors supporting its investment proposition.

UAE-Punjab Institutional Linkages Discussed

The UAEIIC brings together public and private entities in the UAE to facilitate outward foreign direct investment.

The council welcomed Punjab’s proactive engagement with UAE investors. Discussions focused on building stronger institutional linkages that could support direct capital inflows, joint ventures and business partnerships between UAE entities and Punjab.

Such institutional cooperation could help move discussions beyond investor outreach towards specific projects and investment pipelines.

Focus on Industrial Growth and Jobs

Arora said Punjab wants to develop long-term and mutually beneficial economic relationships with UAE-based investors.

The state’s outreach at AIM is aimed at attracting global capital that can contribute to industrial expansion, employment generation and the creation of new business opportunities.

The government is particularly seeking partnerships involving government, semi-government and private-sector entities, giving investors multiple avenues to explore projects in the state.

For Punjab, converting international investor interest into actual projects will be important for strengthening its industrial base and creating new economic opportunities.

Government Assures Investors of Support

Arora assured businesses that the Punjab government would provide support throughout the process of establishing or expanding operations.

The state has positioned its administrative support around helping investors navigate approvals, clearances and other requirements needed to start operations.

The minister stressed that Punjab’s policy framework and infrastructure are designed to make approvals easier and business operations more predictable.

This approach is intended to give investors greater confidence while evaluating Punjab for new projects or expansion plans.

AIM Outreach Seeks Concrete Partnerships

The engagement with the UAEIIC forms part of Punjab’s broader international investment outreach.

The state is looking to connect with international investors and institutional funds that can bring capital, technology, partnerships and employment opportunities.

Arora expressed confidence that the meeting would strengthen economic cooperation and create avenues for future collaboration between Punjab and UAE-based businesses.

The discussions also underline the government’s aim to translate investor meetings into concrete partnerships, joint ventures and capital inflows.

If these efforts result in new investments, Punjab could see further industrial activity and employment opportunities across sectors. The state’s emphasis on single-window clearances, infrastructure, skilled manpower and administrative support is central to its effort to present itself as a stable and growth-oriented destination for international investors.
