Gurugram: In a spirited tribute to the legendary hockey icon Major Dhyan Chand, REC Limited marked National Sports Day with enthusiasm and pride at its Corporate Office in Gurugram. The event saw the participation of esteemed guests from the world of sports and public service, inspiring REC employees to embrace the values of sportsmanship, health, and unity.

A Celebration in Honour of Major Dhyan Chand

National Sports Day, celebrated on August 29th to commemorate the birth anniversary of Major Dhyan Chand, India’s hockey legend and three-time Olympic gold medalist, served as the perfect backdrop for REC’s celebration. This year’s theme, “One Hour on the Field of Sports,” focused on encouraging employees to pursue healthier lifestyles and disease prevention through physical activity.

Eminent Guests Inspire with Passion and Purpose

The event was graced by Ms. Sujata Chaturvedi (IAS) as the Chief Guest, whose presence underscored the importance of integrating physical fitness with professional life. She was joined by:

Manu Bhaker, Khel Ratna awardee and Olympian shooter, whose sporting achievements have inspired millions

Captain Dharamveer, a renowned motivational speaker, who shared powerful insights on discipline, resilience, and teamwork

Nachhatar Singh Johal, CEO – Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS), Sports Authority of India, who highlighted the government’s focus on nurturing sporting talent

Their presence elevated the event, providing motivation for REC employees to embrace fitness and a positive mindset in daily life.

Jitendra Srivastava, Chairman & Managing Director, REC Limited, extended a warm welcome to all the dignitaries and participants. In his address, he reiterated REC’s commitment to fostering a culture of fitness, well-being, and holistic development in the workplace.
