REC Power Development and Consultancy Limited (RECPDCL), a subsidiary of REC Limited, officially handed over the Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) for the Mahan Intra State Transmission Project to Adani Energy Solutions Limited on March 26, 2025. This transfer comes after Adani Energy Solutions emerged as the Transmission Service Provider (TSP) through the Tariff-Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) process organized by RECPDCL.
The project will be developed on a Build, Own, Operate & Transfer (BOOT) basis. The handover was completed with the presence of senior officials from RECPDCL, Adani Energy Solutions, Madhya Pradesh Power Management Company Limited (MPPMCL), and Madhya Pradesh Power Transmission Company Limited (MPPTCL).

The transmission project includes the construction of a 400/220/132 kV substation at Rewa (Sagra) and Amarpatan, along with the development of 166 km of 400 kV transmission lines between PTEMPL (MEL) Switchyard and Rewa (Sagra), and a 50 km line from Rewa to Amarpatan. The project is estimated to cost approximately ₹1,996.47 crore.
The implementation timeline for the Rewa (Sagra) Substation is set for completion by October 25, 2026, while the Amarpatan Substation is expected to be finished by April 25, 2027. This project aims to strengthen the state’s electricity transmission infrastructure and facilitate improved energy distribution across Madhya Pradesh.
