Delhi: In a major boost to sustainable public transport, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta flagged off 300 new electric buses (EVs) from the Indraprastha Bus Depot, dedicating them to the citizens. This move strengthens Delhi’s commitment to an emission-free public transport system and enhances connectivity across the city.

DTC Expands Electric Bus Fleet

CM Gupta highlighted that over the past year, more than 2,000 EV buses have been added to the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) fleet, accelerating the shift towards fully electric public transport. She emphasized the government’s focus on:

  • Reducing pollution and improving air quality
  • Offering faster, convenient, and environmentally friendly travel options
  • Supporting citizens’ transition to sustainable transport

The addition of 300 buses marks a significant milestone in Delhi’s journey towards a 100% emission-free public transport system.

EV Incentive Portal Relaunched

The CM also announced the reopening of the EV incentive portal, which had been inactive since 2023. Through this portal:

  • 12,877 beneficiaries received ₹24 crore in pending subsidies directly via DBT
  • The initiative encourages citizens to adopt electric vehicles, supporting Delhi’s green mobility targets

CM Gupta stressed that the portal and subsidies are part of the government’s ongoing efforts to promote electric vehicles and sustainable urban transport.

The event was attended by several dignitaries, including:

  • Cabinet Minister Dr. Pankaj Kumar Singh
  • MLA Tarvinder Singh Marwah

The launch of 300 EV buses, along with the interstate service and EV incentive portal, marks a key step in Delhi’s green mobility initiative. With ongoing fleet expansion and citizen-focused policies, Delhi is steadily moving towards a fully sustainable and emission-free public transport system, benefiting both the environment and commuters.
