Delhi: In a major boost to sustainable public transport, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta flagged off 300 new electric buses (EVs) from the Indraprastha Bus Depot, dedicating them to the citizens. This move strengthens Delhi’s commitment to an emission-free public transport system and enhances connectivity across the city.
DTC Expands Electric Bus Fleet
CM Gupta highlighted that over the past year, more than 2,000 EV buses have been added to the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) fleet, accelerating the shift towards fully electric public transport. She emphasized the government’s focus on:
- Reducing pollution and improving air quality
- Offering faster, convenient, and environmentally friendly travel options
- Supporting citizens’ transition to sustainable transport
The addition of 300 buses marks a significant milestone in Delhi’s journey towards a 100% emission-free public transport system.

New Interstate Bus Service and DTC Office Inauguration
In addition to the EV bus launch, the government also:
- Inaugurated a new interstate bus service connecting Nanakser to Ghaziabad, improving regional connectivity
- Laid the foundation of DTC’s new office building, showcasing the modernization of the transport infrastructure
EV Incentive Portal Relaunched
The CM also announced the reopening of the EV incentive portal, which had been inactive since 2023. Through this portal:
- 12,877 beneficiaries received ₹24 crore in pending subsidies directly via DBT
- The initiative encourages citizens to adopt electric vehicles, supporting Delhi’s green mobility targets
CM Gupta stressed that the portal and subsidies are part of the government’s ongoing efforts to promote electric vehicles and sustainable urban transport.

- Cabinet Minister Dr. Pankaj Kumar Singh
- MLA Tarvinder Singh Marwah
- Other senior officials and community leaders
The Chief Minister reiterated Delhi’s commitment to modernizing public transport, supporting green policies, and creating a pollution-free urban environment.
