Mr. Loknath Behera, retired IPS officer of 1985 batch from Kerala cadre is appointed as the new Managing Director of kochi metro rail limited on Tuesday. His tenure will be for 3 years. It is for the 1st time that cabinet appointed a retired officer for such post. Currently IAS Mr. KR Jyothilal is serving on this post.
Mr. Behera is a well known IPS officer who has served on various key positions in his whole career. He started his career as an ASP, Alappuzha (Kerala). After that he has been the Commissioner of police in Kochi & DCP in Tiruvanantpuram. He has also served as DIG in Central bureau of investigation. He was one among the founder members of NIA & in 2009 was honoured with the President’s Police medal for his distinguished service.
Before his retirement he completed his 5 years tenure as the longest serving SPC (state police chief) of Kerala state and got retired from his service on June 30, 2021.
