New Delhi: Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL), a Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Railways, Government of India, has secured a significant achievement by emerging as the lowest bidder (L1) for a major traction infrastructure project awarded by Central Railway in Maharashtra.

The project is a critical component of the Indian Railways’ infrastructure modernization drive and involves comprehensive electrification work to enhance traction power and support increased freight movement.

Project Details and Scope of Work

The awarded contract includes the design, supply, erection, testing, and commissioning of high-voltage traction substations, sectioning posts (SPs), and sub-sectioning posts (SSPs) within a 2×25 KV traction system (Scott Connected Transformer). These facilities will be developed along the Daund–Solapur sections of Central Railway.

Once operational, this upgraded traction system will boost the railway’s ability to handle higher freight loads efficiently, aligning with the target of achieving a 3,000 MT loading capacity.

Boosting Maharashtra’s Rail Electrification and Capacity
