The dual workplace recognition highlights SAIL’s robust HR practices and employee experience across its 47,000-plus workforce.

New Delhi: Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), a Maharatna Central Public Sector Enterprise (CPSE) and one of India’s leading steel producers, has received the prestigious Top Employer Certification from the Top Employers Institute.

The certification was awarded on August 24, 2026, and will remain valid until December 2027.

The recognition comes as SAIL also holds its third consecutive Great Place To Work certification, awarded by the Great Place to Work Institute and valid until February 2027.

With both certifications simultaneously, SAIL joins a select group of CPSEs to hold two major independently validated workplace recognitions at the same time.

Top Employer Certification Assesses SAIL’s HR Practices

The Top Employer Certification is based on a detailed, fact-based assessment of an organisation’s people and HR practices.

The HR Best Practices Survey evaluates organisations across:

  • Six key HR domains
  • 20 strategic HR topics
  • The complete employee lifecycle
  • Formalisation and implementation of people processes
  • Alignment with global HR benchmarks

The submissions are independently validated by qualified HR auditors. The assessment also benchmarks organisations against nearly 2,500 certified employers across 131 countries.

SAIL Holds Third Consecutive Great Place To Work Certification

Alongside the Top Employer recognition, SAIL has secured its third consecutive Great Place To Work certification, which remains valid until February 2027.

The Great Place To Work assessment focuses on the Trust Index©, based on a confidential employee survey.

It captures employees’ perceptions of areas such as:

  • Leadership credibility
  • Fairness
  • Workplace experience
  • Pride in the organisation

This provides an employee-centric assessment of how people experience the organisation and its workplace culture.

Two Certifications Offer Complementary Workplace Assessments

The two recognitions evaluate different but complementary aspects of an organisation’s people practices.

Great Place To Work primarily reflects the employee experience through the Trust Index©, while the Top Employer Certification evaluates the maturity and robustness of HR systems and processes.

In simple terms:

  • Great Place To Work: Focuses on how employees experience the workplace.
  • Top Employer: Evaluates the strength and maturity of HR systems supporting that experience.

Holding both certifications therefore provides external validation of both employee experience and HR systems.

Dual Recognition Significant for SAIL’s 47,000-Plus Workforce

SAIL employs more than 47,000 people across its integrated steel plants and units in India.

For an organisation of this scale, simultaneously holding both certifications represents significant external recognition of its workplace practices and human resource systems.

The dual recognition reinforces SAIL’s position as an employer of choice and reflects its continued focus on strengthening people-centric policies and workplace practices.

SAIL Focuses on Employee Development and Wellbeing

The recognitions reflect SAIL’s sustained efforts across several areas of human resource management and employee engagement.

These include:

  • Workplace flexibility
  • Performance management
  • Learning and development
  • Succession planning
  • Leadership development
  • Employee engagement
  • Employee wellbeing

The company’s continued focus on these areas is aimed at strengthening employee capabilities while creating a supportive and performance-oriented workplace environment.
