New Delhi: BJP MP Baijayant Panda has been named Chairperson of the Committee on Public Undertakings (2025–2026). This 22-member panel comprises 15 Lok Sabha MPs and 7 Rajya Sabha MPs, and is responsible for examining the reports and accounts of public sector undertakings.
“The following Members of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha have been elected to serve on the Committee on Public Undertakings w.e.f. 1st May, 2025 for the term 2025-26 ending on 30th April, 2026,” the official communiqué read.
Notably, the Speaker of Lok Sabha, Om Birla had also previously appointed the Kendrapara MP as Chairperson of the Committee for the FY 2024-25.
The 15 newly-elected Lok Sabha Members are Tariq Anwar, Sudip Bandyopadhyay, Chandra Prakash Joshi, Kanimozhi Karunanidhi, Kaushalendra Kumar, Shankar Lalwani, Poonamben Hematbhai Maadam, Baijayant Panda, B.Y Raghavendra, Mukesh Rajput, Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, Pratap Chandra Sarangi, Kodikunnil Suresh, Prabhakar Reddy Vemireddy, and Lalji Verma.
Similarly, the seven Rajya Sabha Members are Dr. John Brittas, Neeraj Dangi, Milind Murli Deora, Dr. Bhagwat Karad, Surendra Singh Nagar, Debashish Samantaray, and Arun Singh.
In a parallel announcement, BJP MP Sanjay Jaiswal has been appointed as the Chairperson of the Committee on Estimates (2025–2026) by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla. The 30-member committee, constituted on May 1, 2025, will serve a one-year term until April 30, 2026.
The panel includes prominent MPs such as P P Chaudhary, Rajiv Pratap Rudy (BJP), Kumari Selja and Deepender Singh Hooda (Congress), Awadhesh Prasad (SP), Kalyan Banerjee (TMC), Dayanidhi Maran (DMK), and Arvind Sawant (Shiv Sena UBT).
Both committees play a critical role in parliamentary oversight, ensuring accountability in government spending and performance of public enterprises.
