Kupwara: The 1999 batch senior IAS officer of AGMUT cadre, Ms Sarita Chauhan, Union Joint Secretary at the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG) and the Central Prabhari Officer (CPO) for District Kupwara, conducted a comprehensive review of the district’s progress under the Aspirational District Programme (ADP) during her visit on Wednesday.
A former J&K cadre IAS officer currently on central deputation, Chauhan visited the DC Office Complex, where she inspected departmental stalls showcasing developmental interventions aimed at improving Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) under the ADP.
Beneficiaries Receive Sanction Letters for Agriculture & Allied Schemes
During the inspection, sanction letters under various schemes in agriculture and allied sectors were distributed to selected beneficiaries. The initiative is part of the ongoing efforts to boost livelihood opportunities and support farmers in the district.
High-Level Review Meeting on ADP Progress
Following the inspection, Sarita Chauhan chaired a high-level review meeting with district and sectoral officers to assess the district’s performance in the five core thematic areas of the ADP:
- Health & Nutrition
- Education
- Agriculture & Water Resources
- Financial Inclusion & Skill Development
- Basic Infrastructure
Deputy Commissioner Kupwara briefed the Prabhari Officer on achievements and progress made so far, highlighting key projects and initiatives undertaken in each sector.
Push for Data-Driven, Convergent Governance
Chauhan emphasized the importance of data-driven governance and the need for departmental convergence to address gaps and improve outcomes across all thematic areas. She stressed that focused interventions and inter-departmental coordination are critical to accelerating the district’s development trajectory.
“Kupwara has shown promising improvement in several indicators. To maintain momentum, departments must work in synergy, backed by data, for targeted and measurable impact,” Chauhan said during the review.
Commitment to Improved Delta Rankings
District officials assured the Central Prabhari Officer of their commitment to intensify efforts in key focus areas, ensuring regular monitoring and timely implementation of schemes. The goal is to achieve a better delta ranking in the upcoming quarterly assessment under the Aspirational District framework.
