Kolkata: The Standing Conference of Public Enterprises (SCOPE) has launched the Advanced Global Leadership Program (AGLP 2.0) in collaboration with IIM Calcutta, marking a fresh initiative to strengthen leadership capabilities across India’s Central Public Sector Undertakings (CPSUs).
The programme was unveiled by Atul Sobti, Director General, SCOPE and ILO Governing Body Member, along with Sanjai Kumar, Chairman and Managing Director, RailTel, at an event held in Kolkata. IIM Calcutta professors Prashant Mishra, Biswatosh Saha and Partha Priya Dutta were also present.
27 Senior CPSU Executives Join AGLP 2.0
The latest batch comprises 27 senior executives from various Central Public Sector Undertakings.
The programme brings together leaders from different sectors and business domains, allowing participants to exchange experiences and gain perspectives on the challenges and opportunities facing India’s public sector.
The initiative is aimed at developing high-impact leaders capable of driving innovation, organisational excellence and transformation in CPSUs.

SCOPE Highlights Role of Leadership in CPSU Transformation
Addressing the participants, Atul Sobti highlighted the critical role of leadership in driving excellence, innovation and transformation within CPSUs.
He noted that public-sector leaders need to balance multiple priorities, including:
- Business performance and public purpose
- Operational efficiency and stakeholder expectations
- Organisational priorities and national objectives
- Innovation and long-term institutional development
The programme is designed to help executives develop the leadership capabilities required to navigate these complex responsibilities.
RailTel CMD Shares AGLP Experience
Sanjai Kumar, CMD, RailTel, who is also an alumnus of the Advanced Global Leadership Program, shared his experience with the participants.
He highlighted how the programme’s learning sessions, peer interactions and international exposure helped broaden his leadership perspective.
Kumar also emphasised the value of developing a wider understanding of global business practices and strengthening strategic thinking among public-sector leaders.
AGLP 2.0 Includes Global Industry Exposure
AGLP 2.0 has been structured as an immersive three-week leadership journey combining classroom learning, workshops and international exposure.
The programme includes:
- Intensive workshops at IIM Calcutta
- Sessions at SCOPE, New Delhi
- An International Industry Study Tour
- Peer learning and leadership interactions
- Exposure to global business practices
The combination of academic learning and international industry exposure is intended to give participating executives a broader perspective on leadership and business transformation.
