SCOPE Highlights Role of Leadership in CPSU Transformation

Addressing the participants, Atul Sobti highlighted the critical role of leadership in driving excellence, innovation and transformation within CPSUs.

He noted that public-sector leaders need to balance multiple priorities, including:

  • Business performance and public purpose
  • Operational efficiency and stakeholder expectations

  • Innovation and long-term institutional development

The programme is designed to help executives develop the leadership capabilities required to navigate these complex responsibilities.

Sanjai Kumar, CMD, RailTel, who is also an alumnus of the Advanced Global Leadership Program, shared his experience with the participants.

He highlighted how the programme’s learning sessions, peer interactions and international exposure helped broaden his leadership perspective.

Kumar also emphasised the value of developing a wider understanding of global business practices and strengthening strategic thinking among public-sector leaders.

AGLP 2.0 Includes Global Industry Exposure

AGLP 2.0 has been structured as an immersive three-week leadership journey combining classroom learning, workshops and international exposure.

The programme includes:

  • Intensive workshops at IIM Calcutta
  • Sessions at SCOPE, New Delhi
  • An International Industry Study Tour
  • Peer learning and leadership interactions
  • Exposure to global business practices

The combination of academic learning and international industry exposure is intended to give participating executives a broader perspective on leadership and business transformation.

Focus on Future-Ready Public Sector Leaders

The programme seeks to develop executives who are:

  • Future-ready
  • Globally oriented
  • Strategically focused
  • Capable of leading organisational transformation
  • Aligned with the broader vision of India’s public sector development

By bringing together senior executives from diverse CPSUs, the programme also provides a platform for cross-sector learning and exchange of leadership experiences.

Strengthening India’s Public Sector Leadership

The launch of AGLP 2.0 comes as India’s public sector continues to evolve in response to changing business environments, technological developments and global economic trends.

Through initiatives such as AGLP 2.0, SCOPE is seeking to equip senior CPSU executives with the strategic capabilities and global outlook required to contribute effectively to organisational growth and India’s broader public-sector transformation agenda.
