SECL Distributes Nutrition Kits to TB Patients Under CSR Initiative in Support of National TB Elimination Campaign

Over 50,000 screened in coal belt; 314 TB patients identified under SECL's CSR health mission

Bilaspu: In a commendable step towards supporting India’s vision of a “TB Mukt Bharat” (TB-Free India), South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL), a subsidiary of Coal India Limited, organized a Nutrition Kit Distribution Program on Sunday at Ravindra Bhawan, Vasant Vihar, Bilaspur, under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative.

Event Highlights

The event was held as part of the National TB Elimination Campaign, with the goal of aiding TB patients through nutritional support, essential for recovery and immunity.

Mr. Biranchi Das, Director (HR), SECL, attended the event as Chief Guest and distributed nutrition kits personally to patients.

Mr. C.M. Verma, General Manager (CSR), SECL, along with Dr. Dharmendra Kumar, Chairman, R.K. HIV AIDS Research and Care Centre, Mumbai, and Dr. Shrutidev Mishra, Chief Medical Superintendent (CMS), also graced the event.

Officials from the CSR Department were present to facilitate the program.

Nutrition Support for TB Patients

A total of 80 TB patients were identified in this phase of the program. Out of these:

60 patients received the nutrition kits during the event.

The remaining 20 patients will receive the kits through door-to-door delivery by the project team in the coming days.

The kits contain essential food and nutritional items aimed at strengthening the immunity and improving the health of TB patients.

Wider Impact Across the Coal Belt

This initiative is part of SECL’s ongoing health-focused CSR activities. According to SECL:

  • More than 50,000 individuals across the coal belt have been screened under this program.
  • 314 TB patients have been identified and supported so far as part of the campaign.

This integrated effort not only aids in early detection but also ensures treatment adherence and nutritional support, which are crucial to combat TB effectively.
