Raipur: In a major step toward employee welfare, South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) – a subsidiary of Coal India Limited – has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Chhattisgarh Rajya Gramin Bank (CRGB) to include SECL employees’ salary accounts under the Corporate Salary Package scheme.

First-Ever MoU with a Regional Rural Bank
This is SECL’s first agreement with a regional rural bank, marking a milestone at the subsidiary level of Coal India. The MoU was signed in the presence of SECL Director (HR) Biranchi Das and Director (Finance) D. Sunil Kumar.

The official signatories were Durga Prasad Samal, General Manager (HR – Coordination/Employee Establishment) from SECL, and Amarjeet Singh Khanuja, Assistant General Manager (Business & Credit/Operations) from CRGB Headquarters, Raipur.

3,637 Employees to Benefit from the Move
The agreement will directly benefit 3,637 SECL employees who currently maintain salary accounts with CRGB. These employees will now have access to the same financial advantages that are typically provided by nationalized banks under corporate salary packages.

This includes-

  • Lower interest rates
  • Preferential loan processing
  • Exclusive banking privileges
  • Streamlined account services

99% Workforce Now Covered Under Corporate Salary Benefits
With the latest inclusion, 99% of SECL’s total workforce is now covered under the Corporate Salary Package umbrella. This initiative is in alignment with SECL’s broader mission to promote employee-friendly financial access, improve financial parity, and strengthen employee-centric policies.

The MoU showcases the growing synergy between public sector enterprises and regional financial institutions in promoting grassroots-level financial inclusion and convenience.

Leadership Speaks
Speaking on the occasion, SECL officials highlighted the importance of inclusive banking services, particularly for employees working in remote or rural areas where regional banks like CRGB have strong reach and penetration.

CRGB representatives expressed their commitment to delivering efficient and customized banking services tailored to the unique needs of SECL employees.
