The Ministry of Home Affairs on Thursday, January 9, 2025, issued transfer orders for senior IPS officer Vijay Kumar of the 1997 batch from the AGMUT cadre to the Delhi segment. Interestingly, the transfer order was signed on January 2, shortly before the announcement of the Delhi Assembly elections. Kumar, who is currently serving as Additional Director General of Police, Law & Order, will assume his new responsibilities with immediate effect.
An official notification stated that Vijay Kumar has been reassigned from Jammu and Kashmir to the Delhi segment of the AGMUT cadre with the approval of the competent authority, effective immediately and until further notice.
Kumar is well known for his leadership in counter-terrorism operations during his service as Inspector General and Additional Director General of Police in Kashmir. He played a key role in managing security in high-conflict areas such as Pulwama, Awantipora, Kulgam, and Anantnag. His extensive experience in dealing with critical security issues is expected to enhance Delhi’s law enforcement capabilities.
