In a fresh and bitter twist to an ongoing feud, two senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officers, Roopa D Moudgil (2000 batch) and Vartika Katiyar (2010 batch), are once again embroiled in a serious dispute that has raised tensions within the police force. The latest conflict has escalated when Katiyar accused Moudgil of orchestrating the theft of crucial documents from her office and plotting a conspiracy against her.
In a formal letter addressed to Chief Secretary Shalini Rajneesh, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Vartika Katiyar detailed her allegations against Inspector General of Police (Internal Security Division) Roopa D Moudgil. Katiyar claimed that Moudgil had allegedly used three junior staffers to steal sensitive documents from her chamber, expressing concerns that Moudgil might later forge the documents to harm her reputation.
Katiyar further alleged that the documents in question were photographed and shared via WhatsApp, suggesting malicious intent. She also pointed out that the key to her chamber had been accessed from the control room, naming three police personnel — Mallikarjun, Manjunath, and Kiran — as being involved in the incident. Katiyar emphasized that the photos of the documents were taken with ulterior motives.
This is not the first time the two officers have been at odds. Earlier, Moudgil and Katiyar had a heated confrontation in a meeting room, witnessed by other senior officers, over various professional disagreements. Despite their ongoing tensions, this latest incident has added fuel to the fire and has left the police community divided.
As the matter continues to unfold, the Chief Secretary’s office is expected to look into the accusations and take appropriate action. The outcome of this dispute could have significant implications on the internal dynamics of the state police department, as it further highlights the deepening rift between two powerful figures in the force.
