SJVN Appoints Pulak Kumar Mukhopadhyay as Executive Director (Mechanical), Strengthening Thermal Power Operations

With over 32 years of experience in the thermal power sector and expertise in nuclear vessels and commissioning, Mr. Mukhopadhyay takes charge to enhance project execution and operational efficiency at the public sector undertaking SJVN.

New Delhi: Mr. Pulak Kumar Mukhopadhyay assumed charge as Executive Director (Mechanical) at SJVN Limited on 14th October 2025. With over 32 years of experience in the thermal power sector, Mukhopadhyay brings a wealth of technical expertise and leadership experience to his new role, overseeing mechanical operations and commissioning activities across SJVN projects.

Extensive Experience in Thermal Power Sector

Before his appointment as Executive Director (Mech), Mr. Mukhopadhyay served as Chief General Manager and Head of Department (Commissioning). He joined SJVN Limited on 4th December 2020, bringing with him more than three decades of professional experience covering all facets of the thermal power industry, including notable tenures at ACC Babcock Limited, West Bengal Power Development Corporation Limited (WBPDCL), and Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL).

Expertise in Nuclear Vessels and Troubleshooting

Mr. Mukhopadhyay has designed nuclear vessels and received advanced training at FUJI, Japan, equipping him with exceptional skills in troubleshooting and non-destructive testing (NDT). His technical proficiency has significantly contributed to the commissioning and erection of major thermal power projects, ensuring operational efficiency and high standards of safety and reliability.

Contributions to SJVN Projects

During his tenure at SJVN, Mr. Mukhopadhyay has actively contributed to multiple functions, including the erection and commissioning of the Buxar Thermal Power Plant, integrating IT and C&SO systems to optimize operational performance. His leadership and technical expertise have strengthened SJVN’s mechanical engineering capabilities, setting new benchmarks for project execution and performance monitoring.
