Hyderabad: In a significant administrative reshuffle, the Telangana government has transferred and posted several senior IPS officers across key roles, marking a major overhaul in the state’s police leadership structure.
The new postings, announced via a government order (G.O.) dated June 4, are aimed at strengthening various departments including cyber security, CID, women’s safety, and district policing.
Abhilasha Bisht Appointed as Director, Police Academy
Senior IPS officer Abhilasha Bisht (1994 batch), who was awaiting a posting, has been appointed as Director of the RBVRR Telangana State Police Academy in Hyderabad. She replaces V.V. Srinivasa Rao (1995 batch), who was holding the position temporarily.
Shikha Goel to Lead Telangana Cyber Security Bureau
Shikha Goel (1994 batch), who previously held the charge of DGP, CID, and spearheaded women’s safety initiatives, has now been appointed as the Director of the Telangana Cyber Security Bureau. She has also been given full additional charge of the Forensic Science Laboratory, Hyderabad, until further orders.
Charu Sinha Repatriated, to Head CID and Women’s Safety
Returning from Central deputation, Charu Sinha (1996 batch) has taken over as Additional Director General of Police, CID, replacing Goel. Sinha will also oversee critical women’s safety programs including SHE Teams and Bharosa initiatives in Hyderabad, continuing the state’s focus on gender-sensitive policing.
Tafseer Iqubal Posted as DIG, Charminar Zone
Tafseer Iqubal (2008 batch), who was serving in the Minorities Welfare Department, has been transferred to a core policing role as Deputy Inspector General (DIG), Zone VI (Charminar).
District-Level Changes: Medak, Komaram Bheem, and Hyderabad Zones
At the district level, several SP and DCP-level changes have also been announced–
D.V. Srinivasa Rao (2013 batch) has been posted as Superintendent of Police (SP), Medak.
Patil Kantilal Subhash (2020 batch) will now serve as SP, Komaram Bheem Asifabad, replacing Srinivasa Rao.
S. Chaitanya Kumar (2020 batch) has been appointed as Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), South East Zone, Hyderabad, taking over from Subhash.
These appointments aim to enhance operational efficiency and strengthen law enforcement presence across key urban and rural pockets of Telangana.
