Hyderabad: The Government of Telangana on Friday issued orders for the transfer and posting of seven senior IPS officers, marking a significant administrative reshuffle across key departments including Home, Vigilance, Intelligence, and city policing.
The reshuffle, which will come into effect from May 1, 2026, was notified by Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao in the name of the Governor.
Shikha Goel Appointed Principal Secretary, Home Department
In a key development, Shikha Goel has been appointed as Principal Secretary, Home Department.
She was previously serving as Director General (Vigilance & Enforcement) and Ex-Officio Principal Secretary in the General Administration Department. Notably, she will continue to hold full additional charge (FAC) as:
- Director, Telangana Cyber Security Bureau
- Director, Telangana Forensic Science Laboratory
Tarun Joshi Named Future City Police Commissioner
Dr. Tarun Joshi has been appointed as Commissioner of Police, Future City.
Currently serving as Director of the Anti-Corruption Bureau, he will replace G. Sudheer Babu, who is set to retire on April 30, 2026.
Sumathi to Head Malkajgiri Police
B. Sumathi, currently serving as IGP, SIB (Intelligence), has been appointed as Commissioner of Police, Malkajgiri.
She will take over from Avinash Mohanthy, who has been reassigned in the reshuffle.
Key Changes in Vigilance, Intelligence and Administration
The reshuffle also includes significant movements in vigilance and administrative wings:
- Devendra Singh Chauhan, currently ADGP (Personnel), has been posted as Director General (Vigilance & Enforcement) and Ex-Officio Principal Secretary, replacing Shikha Goel
- Shahnawaz Qasim, currently Director General, Drugs Control Administration, has been appointed as IGP, Multi Zone-II and will also hold additional charge of IGP (Personnel)
- Avinash Mohanthy, outgoing Commissioner of Police, Malkajgiri, has been posted as Director General, Drugs Control Administration and Director, Prohibition & Excise. He will also hold full additional charge as Director, Anti-Corruption Bureau
- Kartikeya, currently IGP, Intelligence, has been given full additional charge of IGP, SIB (Intelligence) following Sumathi’s transfer

The reshuffle reflects the Telangana government’s focus on strengthening governance and law enforcement across critical departments such as:

All transfers and postings will officially take effect from May 1, 2026, setting the stage for a new administrative alignment in Telangana’s police and governance structure.
