The Ministry of Home Affairs of the Central Government has announced the Union Home Minister’s Special Operations Award. This award is considered for special operations in the areas such as counter-terrorism, border actions, arms control, prevention of narcotics smuggling and rescue operations. Two senior IPS officers of Karnataka cadre Ms. Sonia Narang and Mr. Santosh Babu K has been awarded the Union Home Minister’s Special Operation Award for Investigation in various cases in 2020 and 2021.
Both officers won the award for their work in investigating terror related cases and making arrests in Islamic State in the Khorasan Province terror outfit case. Ms. Sonia Narang has been honoured for her work as DIG, NIA. She is a 2002 batch IPS officer and currently posted as DIG, ED. Whereas Mr. Santosh Babu K is DCP, Intelligence, Bengaluru.
