New Delhi: The Government of India is expanding citizen-centric digital services through platforms such as UMANG and DigiLocker, aiming to make government services and documents easier to access without repeated physical visits to offices.

The latest figures were shared by Union Minister for Electronics and Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw in the Rajya Sabha on August 7, 2026.

Over 2,500 Services on UMANG

As of July 31, 2026, around 2,575 services are available on UMANG (Unified Mobile Application for New-age Governance).

These include:

  • 880 Central Government services
  • 1,695 State Government services

UMANG has more than 11.66 crore registered users and recorded around 798 crore transactions over the last three years.

The platform allows citizens to access multiple government services through a single digital interface.

DigiLocker Crosses 72 Crore Users

DigiLocker has also expanded significantly as a digital document platform.

It currently offers 5,437 document types and services, including 661 from the Central Government and 4,776 from State Governments.

The platform has more than 72.43 crore registered users and recorded around 72.86 crore document access transactions during the last three years.

DigiLocker enables citizens to securely access and share digital documents, reducing dependence on physical copies.

CSCs Expand Digital Access in Rural Areas

The government is also using Common Service Centres (CSCs) to take digital services closer to people in rural and remote areas.

As of June 30, 2026, 4,07,122 CSCs were functional at the Gram Panchayat level.

Women are also playing a significant role in this network, with 70,069 CSCs operated by women Village Level Entrepreneurs.

These centres provide access to government services along with banking, insurance, pension, financial and utility payment services.

Focus on Secure and Paperless Services

UMANG and DigiLocker are available on mobile apps and web portals, enabling access to services from anywhere.

Integrated with Aadhaar, eSign and API Setu, they support paperless services through digital authentication, document verification and consent-based sharing, reducing paperwork and office visits.

Making Digital Services More Inclusive

The government is promoting digital literacy and accessibility, especially in underserved regions, through initiatives like PMGDISHA.

UMANG and DigiLocker provide services in multiple Indian languages, while government departments and states continue adding new services and digital documents.

Digital India Push Continues

The expansion of UMANG, DigiLocker and CSCs reflects the government’s broader Digital India approach, launched in 2015 to improve digital access and citizen service delivery.

With millions of users already relying on these platforms, their continued expansion can make government services more accessible, reduce paperwork and support faster delivery, particularly for citizens in rural and remote areas.
