Prayagraj: In a recent reshuffling, Dr. Ajay Pal, an IPS officer of 2011 batch and Additional Commissioner of Police, Prayagraj, has been appointed as the Nodal Officer for the upcoming Mahakumbh Mela, following the transfer of N. Kolanchi (2008 batch IPS officer), the previous Nodal Officer. Dr. Ajay Pal will now oversee the planning and execution of all activities related to the massive religious and cultural event.
The transition comes as Dr. Ajay Pal takes charge at the Commissionerate Prayagraj, replacing Mr Kolanchi, who was originally appointed to this role in a letter dated July 11, 2024. To support Dr. Pal, Deputy Commissioner of Police Kumbh and Deputy Commissioner of Police Traffic will serve as Assistant Nodal Officers.
A comprehensive team of senior officials will ensure the smooth, safe, and efficient conduct of the Mahakumbh Mela, with responsibilities spanning across multiple departments. Key departments involved include the Railway Department, Prayagraj Development Authority, Public Works Department, Jal Nigam, UP State Bridge Corporation, Ganga Pollution Control Unit, Health Department, Electricity and Transport Department, Traffic Directorate, and various security and intelligence units, including Water Police, Civil Police, PAC, Paramilitary Forces, and Fire Services. Additionally, officials from Radio Department, Logistics, and various Akharas and stakeholders will also play vital roles.
These coordinated efforts aim to facilitate the successful organization of one of the largest spiritual gatherings in the world, ensuring safety and smooth operations throughout the event.
