The policy is aligned with the Centre’s Electronics Component Manufacturing Scheme (ECMS) and will come into effect from April 1, 2025, for a period of six years.

Principal Secretary Anurag Yadav, an IAS officer of 2000 batch, highlighted the phenomenal growth in India’s electronics sector over the past eight years

  • Mobile phone production units in India have grown from just 2 (in 2015) to over 300 units
  • Electronic goods production surged from ₹1.9 lakh crore to ₹11 lakh crore
  • Mobile phone exports increased from ₹1,500 crore to ₹2 lakh crore
  • UP produces over 50% of India’s mobile phones

“UP has become the epicentre of this revolution. This new policy will propel UP to new heights of economic growth and youth employment,” said Mr Yadav.

Global Vision for Local Growth

The UP government believes that the UP ECMP-2025 will

  • Promote innovation and self-reliance

  • Make UP a key player in the global electronics value chain

With the policy in place, the state aims to accelerate industrial growth, make UP a preferred investment destination, and expand employment avenues for its youth population.
