Indian Masterminds Stories

Budaun, UP: In a significant initiative aimed at empowering students from rural and economically weaker backgrounds, the Uttar Pradesh government has taken a major step to support aspirants preparing for the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) examinations. Competitive exam candidates in Budaun can now access UPSC-related books free of cost at the government library, eliminating the need to purchase expensive study material.

The move is part of the state government’s broader effort to nurture talent from rural areas and help deserving students achieve their dream of becoming IAS and PCS officers.

150 UPSC Preparation Books Added to Government Library

To facilitate quality preparation for civil services examinations, the Government Library in Budaun has received 150 books covering a wide range of UPSC-related subjects. These books are now available for students preparing for competitive examinations.

Aspirants can either:

  • Study at the library premises, or
  • Borrow books and prepare at home if they are unable to visit the library daily

This flexible arrangement ensures that students with different constraints can benefit from the initiative.

Library Card Mandatory to Borrow Books

Students wishing to access or borrow the UPSC preparation books are required to obtain a library card.

Documents and Fee Required for Library Card

To get a library card, applicants must:

  • Submit a copy of their Aadhaar card
  • Provide two passport-size photographs
  • Deposit a prescribed fee of ₹200 into the government library’s account

Once the process is completed, aspirants become eligible to issue books from the library.

One Book at a Time for Focused Preparation

According to library guidelines:

  • Only one book will be issued at a time
  • After completing a book, students can return it and borrow another

This system has been designed to ensure fair access for all aspirants and encourage disciplined study habits.

Wide Range of Subjects Covered for UPSC Aspirants

The books available at the government library comprehensively cover all major subjects required for UPSC preparation, including:

  • History
  • Current Affairs
  • Geography
  • Indian Polity
  • Economics
  • Environment and Ecology
  • Science and Technology
  • Social Issues
  • General Hindi and English

These subjects cater to both Preliminary and Main Examination preparation.

Facilities Available at the Government Library

Apart from books, the government library offers additional facilities to help aspirants prepare effectively:

  • Computer systems for study and research
  • Daily availability of all major Hindi and English newspapers
  • Quiet and conducive study environment

These resources allow students to stay updated with current affairs and improve their overall preparation.

UPSC Examination Structure

The UPSC Civil Services Examination is conducted in three stages:

  • Preliminary Examination
  • Main Examination
  • Interview (Personality Test)

The availability of structured study material at the library helps aspirants prepare for all three stages in a systematic manner.

Library In-Charge Encourages Aspirants

Speaking about the initiative, Vikas Mishra, In-Charge, Government Library, said that competitive exam aspirants interested in UPSC preparation are welcome to visit the library, study there, or borrow books as per their convenience.

The initiative is expected to significantly reduce the financial burden on students and create equal opportunities for rural youth aspiring to join the country’s top civil services.
