Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh government carried out a fresh round of administrative transfers late Thursday night, moving five IAS officers and 6 PCS officers to new assignments across district administration, urban local governance and the state government.
The orders, issued at around 10:30 p.m., include changes in the district magistrate postings of Jalaun and Bahraich, besides shifting officers between municipal administration and the state government.
2012 batch promoted IAS officer Rajesh Kumar Pandey, who was serving as District Magistrate of Jalaun, has been appointed the new District Magistrate of Bahraich. His transfer comes as the state government continues to make changes in field-level administrative postings.
Sameer Appointed Jalaun District Magistrate
2015 batch IAS officer Sameer, who was serving as Special Secretary in the IT & Electronics Department as well as Managing Director of UPDESCO, has been moved back to a field posting.
He has been appointed District Magistrate of Jalaun, replacing Rajesh Kumar Pandey.
The appointment brings a change in the district administration of Jalaun while also creating a vacancy in the IT & Electronics Department and at UPDESCO, which has been filled through another transfer in the reshuffle.
Akanksha Rana Moved to IT & Electronics Department
2017 batch IAS officer Akanksha Rana, who was serving as Municipal Commissioner of Jhansi Municipal Corporation, has been brought into the state government.
She has been appointed Special Secretary in the IT & Electronics Department and Managing Director of UPDESCO.
Her transfer marks a shift from urban local-body administration to a key state-level assignment involving the IT and Electronics Department and the state government’s technology-related organisation.
B. Suthan Appointed Jhansi Municipal Commissioner
2020 batch IAS officer B. Suthan, who was serving as Chief Development Officer (CDO) of Barabanki, has been appointed the new Municipal Commissioner of Jhansi Municipal Corporation.
The posting places him in charge of the municipal administration of Jhansi following Akanksha Rana’s transfer to the state government.
Pankaj Verma Gets Barabanki CDO Charge
2022 batch promote IAS officer Pankaj Verma, Secretary of the Moradabad Development Authority, has been appointed Chief Development Officer of Barabanki.
He has been promoted and assigned the new responsibility, completing another link in the chain of administrative changes triggered by the reshuffle.
Postings of PCS Officers Also Changed
Along with the five IAS officers, the Uttar Pradesh government has also changed the postings of several Provincial Civil Service (PCS) officers as part of the late-night administrative reshuffle.
Rajesh Kumar Singh, who was serving as SDM Badaun, has been appointed Additional District Magistrate (Civil Supplies), Kanpur Nagar.
Sanjay Kumar Singh, ADM Gonda, has been assigned as Deputy Director (Administration), Youth Welfare and Prantiya Rakshak Dal.
Pramod Jha, who was serving as City Magistrate, Jhansi, has been appointed ADM Gonda. Following his transfer, Yogeshwar Singh, SDM Kushinagar, has been appointed the new City Magistrate of Jhansi.
With these changes, the responsibilities of a total of 11 IAS and PCS officers have been altered in the latest administrative reshuffle in Uttar Pradesh.
Fresh Transfers After Wednesday’s Postings
The latest transfers come a day after another round of changes in Uttar Pradesh.
On Wednesday night, IAS officer Aparajita Arya was appointed Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of Malihabad, while Manoj Singh was moved from the SDM posting to the role of ACS-5.
With five more IAS officers being transferred on Thursday night, the Yogi Adityanath government has continued its ongoing exercise of revisiting administrative assignments.
The latest reshuffle is also notable for the movement of an officer from a field posting into a Special Secretary-level assignment in the state government.
More IAS Transfers Expected?
The fresh round of transfers has also triggered expectations of further changes in the Uttar Pradesh bureaucracy.
There is speculation that more IAS officers currently holding field postings, including District Magistrates, could be shifted to other districts, while some officers may be brought into the state administration and assigned departmental responsibilities.
However, the latest orders cover five IAS officers and represent a combination of field, municipal and state-level postings.
Five IAS Officers Transferred
The latest changes can be summarised as follows:
- Rajesh Kumar Pandey: District Magistrate, Jalaun → District Magistrate, Bahraich.
- Sameer: Special Secretary, IT & Electronics Department and MD, UPDESCO → District Magistrate, Jalaun.
- Akanksha Rana: Municipal Commissioner, Jhansi → Special Secretary, IT & Electronics Department and MD, UPDESCO.
- B. Sudan: CDO, Barabanki → Municipal Commissioner, Jhansi.
- Pankaj Verma: Secretary, Moradabad Development Authority → CDO, Barabanki.
The government has also transferred six PCS officers as part of the wider administrative reshuffle.
