Lucknow: In yet another round of administrative reshuffle, the Uttar Pradesh government on Wednesday transferred four Indian Police Service (IPS) officers, continuing its pattern of strategic personnel changes in key law enforcement roles.
The officers shifted in this latest round include:
- Vijay Singh Meena (IPS:1996): Transferred from Additional Director, Special Investigation, Lucknow to Additional Director, Police Training Centre (PTC), Sitapur.
- Akash Kulhari (IPS:2006): Moved from Inspector General (IG), Public Grievance, Lucknow to Inspector General of Police, Jhansi Range.
- Keshav Kumar Chaudhary (IPS:2009): Transferred from IG, Jhansi Range to Additional Police Commissioner, Ghaziabad.
- Kalpana Saxena (IPS:2010): Shifted from Additional Police Commissioner, Ghaziabad to Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police, Meerut.
Tuesday’s Reshuffle: Five More IPS Officers Shifted
This move comes just a day after the Yogi Adityanath government reshuffled five IPS officers on Tuesday, including some at the Additional Director General (ADG) and Inspector General (IG) level. Notable changes included:
- Prashant Kumar II (ADG Administration): Given additional charge as ADG, Police Headquarters.
- M.K. Bashal (DG, UP Power Corporation): Appointed as Director General, Home Guard Department.
- Jainarayan Singh (ADG, PTC Sitapur): Transferred to ADG, UP Power Corporation.
- Upendra Kumar Agarwal (IG PAC Lucknow): Made IG, Intelligence Headquarters.
- Satendra Kumar (DIG, previously on waiting list): Appointed DIG, PAC Section Agra.
It’s worth noting that this is Upendra Kumar Agarwal’s fourth transfer in recent times, reflecting ongoing changes in his portfolio.
Backdrop of Frequent Transfers in UP
These back-to-back police reshuffles follow an earlier administrative overhaul in late July, when 23 IAS officers, including District Magistrates (DMs) of 10 districts, were transferred. The wave of transfers is seen as part of the state government’s broader strategy to bring dynamism, accountability, and efficiency to the administrative machinery.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has emphasized stronger law enforcement and administrative reform, with such reshuffles seen as a tool to align officers with evolving policy priorities.
