“Farmers Are Uttar Pradesh’s Greatest Strength”

Calling farmers the backbone of the state’s economy, CM Yogi said the Mango Festival serves as an important showcase where growers can present their produce through Buyer-Seller Meets and gain international recognition.

He noted that Malihabad’s Dussehri mango, which has received a Geographical Indication (GI) Tag, has become a globally recognized brand.

According to the Chief Minister, Uttar Pradesh’s strength lies in its farmers, whose efforts have made the state’s mango industry one of the country’s finest.

Mango Festival Has Grown Significantly Since 2017

The Chief Minister recalled that the first Mango Festival was organized in Lucknow in 2017 with only a limited number of mango varieties.

Today, the event has expanded dramatically, featuring over 800 mango varieties from:

  • All 18 divisions
  • 75 districts
  • More than 350 tehsils across Uttar Pradesh

Visitors can see mangoes weighing anywhere between 100 grams and 2.2 kilograms, highlighting the state’s rich biodiversity.

Government Strengthening Export Infrastructure

To improve exports and post-harvest management, the Uttar Pradesh government has established four pack houses for mango farmers.

Pack houses have already been set up in:

  • Saharanpur
  • Lucknow
  • Varanasi

The Chief Minister also announced that an Integrated Testing Park is being developed at Jewar International Airport, which will further strengthen export quality testing and logistics.

The government is actively connecting farmers directly with exporters to expand international trade opportunities.

‘Kakori Brand’ to Give Malihabadi Mangoes a New Identity

Yogi Adityanath announced that Malihabadi mangoes are being promoted under the “Kakori Brand”, named in memory of the freedom fighters associated with the historic Kakori movement.

The initiative aims to create stronger branding for Uttar Pradesh mangoes in domestic and international markets while honoring the state’s rich heritage.

  • AI-driven agriculture
  • Food processing
  • Branding and packaging
  • Quality testing
  • Global market integration

He also called for more mango varieties from Uttar Pradesh to receive GI Tag recognition to enhance their international identity and market value.

Fruit Cover Bag Technology Introduced

To improve fruit quality, the government is promoting Fruit Cover Bag Technology, which protects mangoes from pests and environmental damage.

These protective bags are being distributed to farmers in major fruit-growing regions to enhance production quality and export potential.

Buyer-Seller Meets to Benefit Farmers

The Chief Minister said the state government organizes Buyer-Seller Meets during major agricultural events to connect:

  • Farmers
  • Exporters
  • Scientists
  • Self-help groups
  • Nursery operators
  • Infrastructure experts
  • Bankers
  • Food processing companies

This collaborative approach helps farmers access new markets and increase income.

The UP Mango Festival 2026 reflects Uttar Pradesh’s growing focus on agricultural innovation, export promotion, and value addition.
