New Delhi: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) will close the online registration window for the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) Assistant Commandant Examination 2026 on March 12, 2026, at 6 PM. Candidates aspiring to join India’s paramilitary forces as officers must submit their applications on the official UPSC website before the deadline.

    Through this recruitment drive, UPSC aims to fill 349 Assistant Commandant (AC) posts in several major Central Armed Police Forces. The UPSC CAPF written examination is scheduled to be held on July 19, 2026 and will be the first stage of the selection process for officer-level posts.

    CAPF Assistant Commandant 2026: Vacancy Details

    According to the official notification, the 349 vacancies are distributed among five Central Armed Police Forces

    • Border Security Force (BSF): 108 posts
    • Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF): 106 posts
    • Central Industrial Security Force (CISF): 70 posts
    • Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB): 53 posts
    • Indo‑Tibetan Border Police (ITBP): 12 posts

    Officials noted that the number of vacancies is tentative and may change depending on administrative requirements.

    Eligibility Criteria

    Candidates applying for the CAPF Assistant Commandant Examination 2026 must satisfy the following conditions

    Educational Qualification

    Applicants must possess a Bachelor’s degree from a recognised university.

    Candidates who are currently in the final year of their graduation are also eligible to apply, provided they produce proof of passing the degree examination at a later stage of the recruitment process.

    Age Limit

    Applicants must be between 20 and 25 years of age as on August 1, 2026.

    Age relaxation will be applicable for candidates belonging to reserved categories, as per government norms.

    Nationality

    Candidates must be citizens of India. However, certain categories of candidates from Nepal and Bhutan may also be eligible under government rules.

    How to Apply for UPSC CAPF AC 2026

    Candidates can apply online by following these steps

    1. Visit the official website of the Union Public Service Commission.
    2. Go to the Online Application section on the homepage.
    3. Click on the CAPF Assistant Commandant Examination 2026 link.
    4. Complete the registration process and fill out the application form.
    5. Upload the required documents and pay the application fee, if applicable.
    6. Submit the form and download the confirmation page for future reference.

    Applicants are advised to complete the registration process before the deadline, as no applications will be accepted after 6 PM on March 12, 2026.

    Selection Process

    The recruitment process for UPSC CAPF Assistant Commandant posts will take place in several stages

    1. Written Examination
    2. Physical Efficiency Test (PET) and Medical Standards Test
    3. Interview / Personality Test

    Candidates who successfully clear all stages will be considered for final appointment as Assistant Commandants in the Central Armed Police Forces.
